On – board unit (OBU) for Poland
The on-board unit (OBU) is a hybrid electronic technical device enabling the unambiguous identification and position of a vehicle by an electronic toll system without stopping the vehicles (systems without toll gates).
Our on-board units integrate 3 key technologies:
- Satellite GPS technology
- for positioning (GNSS: GPS, GLONASS and GALILEO)
- ensures the collection of data on the use of defined road sections
- GSM / GPRS technology
- for communication within mobile networks
- serves for data transmission between the on-board unit and other information systems within the electronic toll system
- Microwave DSRC technology
- for short distance communication
- serves to control toll payers as part of the toll collection control process
